I attended West Virginia University for three years and received a BS in Animal & Veterinary Science. In the fall of 1977 I began veterinary school at Tuskegee Institute's School of Veterinary Medicine in Tuskegee Alabama, and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in the spring of 1981. I have worked in small animal and mixed practices ever since. |

I opened a small animal & exotic practice in Lexington, Kentucky in 1993 so that I could pursue my unusual interests in exotic animals and alternative medicine. I was first interested in Acupuncture, and had even done my senior project in veterinary school using acupuncture, way back in 1981. When I began looking into Acupuncture classes, I discovered similar classes for homeopathy. I also found that homeopathy (a whole system of medicine by itself) was more comprehensive than acupuncture; so I studied homeopathy instead. In 1997-98 I took Dr Richard Pitcairn's Basic Homeopathy Course for Veterinarians. During the winter of 2001-2002, I took his Advanced Homeopathy Course for Veterinarians. I am a member of the Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy and am working towards becoming certified in veterinary homeopathy.
Homeopathy has lived up to my expectations by being a gentle, yet powerful, all inclusive system of medicine. I closed my practice last year, and am working part time at the Pennyroyal Small & Exotic Animal Hospital. I also like to do house calls for my homeopathic patients. House calls are much less stressful to the pet, and they don't become as scared of the veterinarian. |
